About

Alright cats and kittens, here’s the deal:

Zoetrope Fiction” is essentially one big game of “To Be Continued” with very few limitations.  Each “chapter” is done by a different contributor who has the right to twist and turn the story in any way they deem fit based on their interpretation of the preceding "chapter."

The primary requirement of each “chapter” is that it is a continuation of the previous post.  Note that continuation does not necessarily mean advancement – flashbacks and arbitrary randomness are welcome if properly framed within the story.

Keep in mind that there is:

NO genre label
NO word count minimum or maximum (within reason)
NO censoring (within reason)
NO set point of view
NO set style
NO established theme
NOTHING to box the writer in!

From Mars to the wild wild west, nothing is off limits.  Just because one chapter is in first person, doesn't mean the next can't be in third person.  It doesn't matter if it's today, the future, the past, alternate timelines, fantastical impossibilities, literary value, historical value, comedic value, ANYTHING - as long as the writer can twist it into the story in a semi-believable way.  While story arches may end, the story must not.  There will always be a "To Be Continued."  (Think soap opera in literary form and without any nagging commercials or sub-par acting.)

Comments from readers are strongly encouraged, this includes other contributors.  Not only is this an experiment to see if there really is such a thing as a never ending story, but it’s a chance to play and practice as a writer, and be open to the feedback that entails.

All copyright of written work remains with the contributor.   “Zoetrope Fiction” retains only non-exclusive rights to display the contributor’s work on zoetropfiction.blogspot.com.

Any and all rules are in place to ensure a mutual respect and courtesy between the contributors and our readers.  Please visit the rules page if you are interested in some of our parameters, or more details if you are interested in participating.

That all being said (if you’ve made it this far, give yourself a gold star), we are always seeking talented and imaginative people to add to our collaborative brew.  If you (or a friend, dad, aunt, step-brother’s third-cousin’s dog walker) are interested, give us a shout out with a brief sample chapter!
